About Breon Boseman-Sims
“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” — World Health Organization
As a public health and health promotion professional of 11 years, Breon Boseman-Sims’ determination to change the way individuals and communities interact with health information is powered by being a first-hand witness of how small, daily health behaviors can make or break one’s quality of life. She believes that the picture of health is incomplete if one of all eight dimensions of wellness is out of balance, and that creativity and tailored interpersonal engagement unlocks people’s interest in improving their overall health. Even further, creativity and meaningful, relevant engagement fosters deeper connections to self and encourages people to enhance their health in ways traditional methods do not.
Her ideal life’s work? One that fuses public health, art, and social engagement to increase people’s interest in seeking evidence-based health information and improves health outcomes in vulnerable populations that face health disparities.
Breon is currently a Health Educator for Union County, NJ. She graduated with her Master of Public Health degree in 2021 from Montclair State University with a concentration in Community Health Education. As of July 2024, she is a doctoral student in Cohort 12 of New Jersey City University’s Ed.D in Educational Technology Leadership program. Breon looks forward to expanding her idea of what’s possible with using educational technology as a medium to develop creative, relevant, accessible health education programs and initiatives that allow people to connect to the need to preserve their health and therefore themselves.
